luz para Darfur

"In order to help bring even more attention to the suffering of innocent men, women, and children in Darfur, we are launching 10 Days of Action leading up to September 17.
Today, as the first of those days, we encourage you to "Shine a light for Darfur." Join thousands of other Darfur activists by organizing a local candlelight vigil to remember the victims of the genocide in Darfur.
Place a single lit candle in your window as a remembrance, or ask others in your community to join with you and hold your event in a public place. Please take photos of your event, no matter how large or small, and email them to shinealightphotos@savedarfur.org. We will post them online for all to see.
As we approach the September 17th events, we also need your help to ensure the genocide in Darfur remains in the news and on the minds of decision makers.
There is no better way to do that than with a letter to the editor of your local newspaper.
The editorial page is one of the most widely read sections of the newspaper, especially by elected officials who want to know what’s on their constituents' minds. Let newspaper readers know that you will not stand by and watch a government-sponsored genocide take the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women, and children in Darfur.
Click here to write your letter to the editor today.
We have provided some information to help you, but the more personal your letter is, the more likely it will be printed.
So please take a moment to make your letter as unique as possible by telling your own story. Are you planning on traveling to the New York City event? Do you know a Darfur refugee? Has your church, mosque, or synagogue done something distinctive to raise awareness of the genocide in Darfur?
Click here today to write your letter to the editor.
Thank you for everything you continue to do on behalf of the people of Darfur."
