Relembro uma vez mais estas palavras, aqui escritas por Donnelly, quando leio ou ouço pessoas que se dizem frustradas por continuarem sem ver na ONU um órgão (finalmente) capaz de superar o bloqueio exercido pelo poder dos Estados na defesa de interesses próprios.

Relembro uma vez mais estas palavras, aqui escritas por Donnelly, quando leio ou ouço pessoas que se dizem frustradas por continuarem sem ver na ONU um órgão (finalmente) capaz de superar o bloqueio exercido pelo poder dos Estados na defesa de interesses próprios.
Talvez, como pretendem os realistas políticos, não devamos ter ilusões de que a soberania jurisdicional do Estado se imporá sempre sobre as regras morais de uma sociedade internacional de Estados.
Ou talvez não, quando sabemos que, apesar de tudo, se recorre constantemente a essas regras morais para formatar uma prática política futura ou julgar uma prática passada.
